Life in Haiti

As many of you already know, we will be spending the next 2 weeks here in Haiti......14 more days to be exact (we're already counting down). It is definitely not what we had planned or hoped for, but we're trusting that the date of May 7th for our Visa appointment was and is God's perfect timing that we and so many have been praying for.

After praying and seeking counsel, Payton has decided to take a 2 week leave of absence from work so that he can be here the full two weeks with us. Being 30 weeks pregnant, the cost of flying of back and forth, and the need for him to be here to finalize some paperwork.....this option made the most sense. Like I said, it was not in "our plans" and definitely not what we had prayed for, but it is another opportunity to trust and cling to the faithfulness of God.

In the meantime, we are attempting to make the best of the our time here.  Even though we love Haiti and the beautiful people here, it is not an easy or fun place to just "hang out".....but we're enjoying our time as a family of three and our one on one time with Rowen. Hard to believe that once we return to the States, Pax will be due to arrive in 10 weeks!!! Therefore, our time with just Rowen is very short.  We are praising the Lord for every second we are getting to spend with him as our only son.

What are we going to for the 2 weeks many have asked? That is the same question we ask ourself? Mom asked if there was an aquarium or a park to go play at.......and as I still laugh at that question, the answer is no. We're lucky to be able to step outside to play. Just last night we attempted to take a little "family stroll" after dinner.......

after dodging mud puddles, wet trash, getting caught in the rain, and scratching the 10 mosquitos bites I got in the first five minutes, I quickly made the decision that it was time to go back inside immediately.

We spend most of our morning playing with our mega legos....

Playing dress up with Dad.......

Kicking back and watching Elmo and rentals off of iTunes......

Staying as cool as possible in 90 degree weather by wearing as little clothing as possible (hence all the diaper pics).....it is HOT and this little guy can produce some sweat.

Learning a few baseball skills (even if it is with a pink bat).......

Having balloon parties with other guest that come join us for dinner.....

Hand washing clothes for the first time to which Payt gets full credit for......we became extremely grateful for a washer and dryer after this experience.

And completing crucial paperwork to get us ready for our big day on May 7th.

We are constantly amazed at the love, support, and prayers that we have received throughout this journey. Payt and I often look at each other and laugh, asking what in the world are we doing? But then we're quickly reminded of what all God has done thus far, what all we've learned, and how much this little guy is worth every second of it.

Update on little Pax......Hes hanging in there! We are 30 weeks (so hard to believe), and He is active as ever. Being pregnant in a 3 world country, of course, brings several worries and fears from time to time as I'm sure you can imagine. But we, fortunately, have full access to all American food, making eating much easier. And since there is very little to do, I am getting plenty of rest :). I also remind myself daily, that women in Haiti have healthy babies all the time.
