Halloween and More Adoption News


Hope everyone had a super fun and safe Halloween. Our night ended with a phone call from our adoption facilitator in Haiti letting us know that our dossier (paperwork) was officially RECEIVED by IBESR!! When Payt answered the phone call, the first words out of our facilitator's mouth was; "Man, God is surely working on you guy's side." 


Due to the three "strikes" we have against us according to the Haitian law (our age, length of marriage, and children already in our home); there was a BIG possibility that IBESR could have turned away our dossier.  So praise God, He is faithful!  IBESR (Haiti Child Services) is the first of three court systems that will process our paperwork. IBESR holds the power to give us the document entitled, "Autorisation d'Adoption aka Authorization of Adoption", which is the coveted piece of paper we need to move forward.  Please join us in praying for this document! 


Some of you may have gained the impression that our paperwork was already in the court system, and if you had, we apologize. Our paperwork did make it to Haiti on September 24th. But, before it could be submitted to IBESR, Rowen had to have a list of documents completed (medical evaluation, family history, psychological evaluation, etc. ) to make him "adoption ready." Therefore, our facilitator has spent the past four weeks working on getting those documents ready. And even though, Ms. Hurricane Sandy made things a little more challenging, he got it done. Everything got accomplished and all documents and our dossier were ready just in time for submission to IBESR, might I mention.......... the LAST day before all of Haiti's adoption laws are supposed to be changed! GOD!


Had we been a day later, we potentially would have been put back at square 1, redoing every single document....


....Can you imagine?


Once again, another miracle and an answer to the prayers of His people.


We can't THANK YOU enough!


Not only did our facilitator carry our "unqualified (age, marriage length, children)" paperwork to IBESR in hopes to receive a number that would enable us to proceed, but in addition to, some of translations were missing.....yet they still accepted us! Our facilitator was/is blown away at God's evident hand at work in this journey. In his experience of facilitating adoption, one look at our birth certificates would have been enough ground for them to reject our dossier. But like he said, " God is surely working on our side." 


Just as we have from the beginning of this journey, we continue to stand on Ephesians 3:20-21.



"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."




We still have a LONG road ahead of us (possibly anywhere from 1-2 1/2 years), but in spite of the tears and the heart ache during this season of waiting, there is a great expectation that overwhelms us day to day. We continue to experience the great faithfulness of our Lord and Savior and stand confident in His promises!



And, again, we thank you for constant prayers that are carrying us through this journey!


His story, His glory! And please continue to join us in praying for an EXPEDITED adoption process. HE IS ABLE!

  2. Oh Heather, this is wonderful news for you guys and it is also EXTREMELY encouraging to us. We are facing similar "strikes" against us (primarily that we do not have "documented infertility") in Thailand, and everything has seemed so impossible. But just this week we found a man at an agency in NY that is "sympathetic to our case" and has decided to advocate on our behalf! Now we will continue to pray FAVOR over our process and FAVOR over yours - that God would move the mountains necessary to get our babies HOME!
