Day 3 of #first13of2013Haiti

The above picture presents a few of the younger lives within one of the five orphanages that #first13of2013Haiti is striving to aide.   Between these five orphanages, there are approximately 125 children under the age of 5 years old.  There is an excruciatingly, heart wrenching reality staring these children square in the face.

“Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

The estimated number of children that will die in Haiti before they reach the age of 5 is 120 deaths per 1,000.  Translating into a staggering 12% of children dead between birth and age 5.  Comparatively speaking, 7 deaths per 1,000 will occur within the United States.

That excruciating reality facing the 125 children under 5 years old within these 5 orphanages, is that...

the statistics say, 15 of them WILL NOT celebrate their fifth birthday!

“Let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”  Proverbs 31:7-9

P.S.  God has made a way for #first13of2013Haiti to conclude with Heather and I on the ground in Haiti!!!  Some great friends of ours, Jason and Joy Standridge, will be traveling alongside us. We leave next Friday, January 11th and return Monday, January 14th.

We will be visiting each orphanage that #first13of2013Haiti exists to aide.    Though we will get to see our boy(Praise God), the main focus of this weekend trip is to further assess the condition of the 5 orphanages.  As well as, to ensure the greatest level of financial stewardship and accurate distribution of funds collected from the #first13of2013Haiti campaign.

We will post a blog on January 12th and January 13th with new pictures and direct insight into the lives, your giving is impacting.  Praise God that He involves us in His work.  We highly covet your prayers and again, we THANK YOU for your giving!
