She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
1 Peter 4:10-11 explains the importance of gifts. Each one of us has been given a spiritual gift. Whether its the gift of encouragement or the gift to work with your word, God instructs us to use these gifts with all strength and energy that He supplies to serve one another and to glorify Him.
He not only gave us these gifts and talents to enjoy; but more so, to enhance His Kingdom. We are to be good stewards of the things we enjoy and the things we are good at, and in some way use them to minster or serve the body of Christ.
Jesus tells a parable in Matthew 25 about a master who distributes bags of silver amongst his servants. He distributes the bags according to their abilities. Neither servant was given more than he could handle. Each servant but one took the bags (a gift or talent), invested, and earned double what had originally been given. The one who chose not to invest, buried the silver. The master grew angry and took the one bag of silver from the servant leaving him with nothing.
In other words, this paints a picture of what it looks like when we invest our gift and talents or what happens when we choose to set them to the side. God expects us to use them wisely. And its not a matter of how much we've been given, but how well we use what we have. Everyone has something special to offer, begin using it, and watch God multiply it like he illustrates in Matthew 25.
